In 2009 the original Rough Diamond T resurfaced. First built and campaigned by Dave in 1981, the neglected race car was discovered in Austria, and Dave set out on a mission to restore it to its former glory. With a new frame the car is now tagged to run six seconds and sports a 468 c.i. big block Chevrolet engine. Every component on this car has been built and assembled by Dave.
Running in the Super Pro class, at the Summer Nationals Dave managed to qualify the resurrected car at number one on his maiden event – going through to the semi finals. Again, at the European Finals he qualified number two in a field of 48 cars. The car has performed flawlessly and has been completely consistent – a credit to Dave’s skills in race car preparation and fabrication.
